Let's get Technical
This section is intended for those with varying degrees of understanding when it comes to the inner workings of internet technology. To the layperson, this all may seem confusing, in which case, we suggest that you check out our Why We're Better page which takes a more mainstream approach.
OK, on to the details: our CoreSites can be best described as a hybrid product that utilizes several different technologies and approaches. To specify, our Fusion Toolbox utilizes PERL as the application language, as well as MySQL as its database server and language. However, we've also captured the power of Cascading Style Sheets for not just precise layout, for layout determination. However, to minimize server load, much of the content available to the public is supplied via Server Side Includes, and not always from an executable. Our unique approach combines raw data files editted by our Fusion Toolbox and then read by our CoreSite pages.
So with that overview, we can discuss what makes our product so powerful. First, by using open-source programming and database languages, we retain server scalablility and don't have to pass licensing costs on to our clients. Second, and though we use some open-source components, our actual applications are almost entirely written from the ground up by us. Thusly, there is no part of the tools we don't understand, and we've already committed more than a year of focussed development with several CoreSite incarnations tried and discarded. We know from these diversions that what we have decided to bring to market is of the best quality we can manage.
Finally, we have some approaches to content that are unique and effective. First, we've deployed a javascript based scroller for most main content that minimizes vertical scrolling of the actual browser window. This allows us to present a great deal of content without marooning the visitor deep down the page and without access to navigation and other features.
